Pioneer HS Band is currently looking to fill a vacancy for a Head Band Director for the 2024-2025 school year.
Pioneer HS is a 5A high school in the Sharyland Independent School District located in the Rio Grande Valley and opened its doors ten years ago. The marching band actively participates and competes in UIL and BOA events and is a consistent BOA Regional Finalist, as well as a former Regional and Super Regional Class Champion. The Pioneer Band has qualified for the UIL State Marching Contest every opportunity its had since it opened its doors, making for a 5-for-5 record in qualifications and opportunities. Additionally, Pioneer HS is currently home to 2 TMEA 5A All-State Ensemble “First Chairs” (bassoon and tenor trombone). The Pioneer Percussion Studio was the 2017 PASIC International Percussion Ensemble Competition and performed in Indianapolis and the Color/Winter Guard Program is active in the WGI, TCGC, and TECA circuits.
The program has 4 full-time staff members and a fine arts secretary to assist with paperwork and organization. The Pioneer Band has a very strong feeder middle school program with a rich tradition of Sweepstakes Awards and a large band program of its own.
